"Doo Wop" Groups of the 50's

These are some pics of my recent vacation in Las Vegas.

The performers in black, w/the female vocalist is the legendary group, the Platters.  The guy (third from the left) is my childhood friend, Derek David!

We started performing together while in elementary school.  

The first song we did as a "duo" was "Poison Ivory" by the Coasters.

Derek also plays the "hell" of a piano. He plays "piano by ear!"  Always had from a child... never studied a day in his life!

Now below the pic of Derek, is the famous Motown female group, the Marvelettes, of "Hey Mr. Postman..." fame.

Now these aren't the original performers, but their hits live on!

And the group dressed in blue suits are the Coasters... "Poison Ivory"... "Charlie Brown"... and many other hits!
